Erica Ligeski, Owner/Operator

Stardancer Studios is owned and operated by Erica Ligeski. Erica trained for 18 years in the Detroit, Michigan area, and she competed at the regional and national level for 14 of those years. Erica has been teaching dance for 12 years to all ages and ability levels. She established award-winning intermediate and advanced-level competitive dance teams, and in the past four years she and her students have received numerous awards.

2008 highlights include: 1st Place Overall Group and Solo from Dancer's Inc, Studio Award for Best Costumes Overall from IDC, 4 special awards, best costume award, 2 choreography nominations and Odessey award nomination from Starquest, 3 scholarships from DanceXplosion, and 6 special awards, nomination for the national performance team (entire company), 1st place overall group and title winner from Sophisticated Productions.

2007 highlights include: Dance USA's Overall Entertainment Award, Young Miss Dance Title Winner for Dance Ovations, $1000 in scholarships, $100 cash prize, Best Choreography Award, 1st Place Overall Senior Small Group from DancXplosion, and IDC's Entertainment Challenge Semi-Finalist.

Highlights from 2006 include: 1st Place Overall Senior Production at IDC and 1st Place Overall Teen Small Group from Showstopper.

Highlights from 2005 include: Entertainment Challenge Contender and Best Choreography – Senior Division from IDC.

Erica is currently on the faculty of Colby-Sawyer College in New London, NH as an Adjunct Professor of Ballet, Modern, Jazz and Choreography. Erica has a BFA in Dance with Teaching Certification from the University of Michigan and a Master of Arts Management degree from Carnegie Mellon University. Erica continues her training, attending various conventions and conferences including the Annual Dance Teacher Magazine conference in New York City. She taught master classes for the Vermont Alliance for Arts Education; she also taught master classes at the 5th Annual High School Dance Festival at Lyndon Institute in November of 2007 and is now on the permanent faculty.

Erica loves dance and loves choreography and looks to various sources for inspiration. Some of her favorite choreographers/dance companies include Pilobolus, Stephen Petronio, Wade Robson and Mia Michaels. Erica hopes to follow in the footsteps of these artists; she also hopes to continue expanding Stardancer, teach more master classes and judge at the regional and national level.
